RETAIL BUYER WITH DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE

We’re looking for a self-motivated, independent, energetic and detail oriented individual who is innovative and a quick learner with experience in both retail buying, product development and fashion design.

This exciting opportunity in a specialist clothing retail sector is for a retail buyer with experience in both design and product development, who has managerial capacity to run with this ever-growing ecommerce fashion company.

 

Combining fashion with business, you’ll be in charge of managing the behind the scenes from the design stage through to shipment. You’ll need to anticipate which trends are relevant while also considering elements such as brand identity, customer habits, quality and budget. You will furthermore be responsible for the distribution of technical packs to the relevant CMTs, factories and suppliers, while also managing samples and trims in time for fittings and approvals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and meeting suitable suppliers/manufacturers and local CMTs.
  • Negotiating prices, quantities and delivery time-scales
  • Brand growth

-          Market research

-          Trend forecast

-          Product research & development

  • Product Development

-          Design and Vision (trends) research and presenting

-          Sourcing (Fabrics and trims etc.)

-          Compiling Tech Packs and reports

-          Outsource and coordination on pattern development, pattern making and sampling

-          Product supply chain management.

-          Product Costing.

Requirements:

  • Certificate or degree in relevant field
  • Experience in retail buying, design and product development
  • Computer literate
  • Must have own car  
  • Must be Cape Town based
  • This is an in office position and not a remote position.

 

Additional Information:

  • Full Time –  5 days a week in studio
  • Remuneration to be discussed based on experience & skills.
